What size does the memory card support? Which brand is more suitable?

The Maxus motorcycle driving recorder has a memory card pre-installed at the factory and is locked on the side of the machine. If necessary, it can be removed to read the file, or the file can be downloaded directly through the mobile app.

The memory cards provided by Maxus have a capacity of 32G or 64G, which have been tested to have stable video quality, match the machine, and have good compatibility. However, some car owners still want to purchase larger-capacity memory cards such as 128G and 256G. They often ask how much memory cards can support? Which brand is more suitable, and why the recording is no longer possible after changing the card.

What size does the memory card support?

Maxus Motorcycle Recorder supports a maximum capacity of 256GB. Video files are about 60MB~100MB per minute. Excluding the lock space, a single lens can record for about 1920~3200 minutes. If you want the files to be retained for 2 days without being overwritten, you must choose 256G. memory card.

If a 256G memory card is used, due to the limited storage format (a folder can only store 1,000 files), please set the loop time to 5 minutes for loop recording. It can also avoid having too many files that are difficult to find.

16 GBAbout 120~200 minutes
32GBAbout 240~400 minutes
64GBAbout 480~800 minutes
128GBAbout 960~1600 minutes
256GBAbout 1920~3200 minutes

Which brand is more suitable?

Since the quality of memory cards on the market varies, it is recommended to carefully choose a memory card from a big brand to ensure safety. It is best to have a C10 grade. The memory card has a writing speed of 10MB/second, so that the recording process of the video files will not be smooth and unstable. Stuck and stopped. As for brands, Chase has tested and recommended brands such as Laxer, Kingston, and Transcend.

Why can’t I record after replacing a large-capacity memory card?

The new memory card purchased must be formatted on the driving recorder before use to ensure the video quality.

SOP for changing the memory card:
1. Insert a new memory card, turn on the power of the locomotive, open the APP and connect to the host
2. After the connection is successful, go to “Settings” and select “Format Memory Card”
3. After formatting is completed, Restart the locomotive power supply and APP (Note! The APP needs to be completely closed and then reopened. If this action is not done, an unknown error message will appear and the APP will not be able to be used normally.)

Do memory cards have a lifespan?

Due to the loop recording function of the driving recorder, old files will always be overwritten. However, due to long-term read and write cycles, the memory card will quickly reach the usage limit due to high frequency of use, resulting in space confusion, hidden sectors, garbled file names, abnormal file cutoffs, etc. The memory card must be formatted regularly to clean up the sectors and restore health. For people who use it every day, it is recommended to remove the memory card every month and use a computer formatting program to clear the memory card (it is recommended to format it with the SDFORMAT program) or format it through the APP.

Formatting the memory card every month can not only extend the life of the memory card, but also make saving files smoother. Don’t install the motorcycle recorder and ignore it. Normally, it’s fine. Once you need to use the motorcycle recorder video and find that it’s not saved, then the meaning of installation is lost!
